Ok ladies. Winter is here. Duh? I know. So I have one simple question for you, do you change up your fragrances according to what weather it is? Well, I do!
I prefer mover voluptuous and heady scents during the chilly winters, simply because they really show amazing character through the heavy winter layers.
Here are few of my picks, if you haven’t sniffed any of these yet, jot down their names and remember checking them out while paying a visit to Sephora. You can thank me later 😜😜
“Si Intense is described as a modern chypre fragrance. It opens with accords of cassis and black currant heart extract. There are also fresh notes of mandarin and bergamot with a silky touch of freesia. The heart develops with essence of May rose and neroli absolute, with additional accords of davana and osmanthus. The base features patchouli, vanilla, ambrosian and woody notes.”
“For Coco Noir, I thought of Coco and of Coco Mademoiselle too, because it’s also part of the history. I wanted to continue exploring an entire esthetic range of CHANEL perfumery, a range that distinguishes itself from the Florals, one that is illustrated by Bois-des-Iles and Cuir de Russie. I took it up with Coco. It’s what I like to call the CHANEL Coromandel culture, what you see and feel in her apartment. The night vision of the ‘Orient that starts and ends in Venice’ imposed itself upon me and that is where I wanted to go.”
“Poison’ girl is the fragrance of a modern day girl, delicious and toxic. A sensual trap that instantly ‘Poison’s and draws out the pleasure to the point of addiction. A bitter-sweet floral with mouth-watering orange that is delightfully swathed in Venezuelan tonic bean and blossoms in the biting sensuality of Grasse rose.“
A rather young rendition that trickles down from the icon Dior Poison bloodline. Unlike its royal predecessors this scent is sweeter and slightly less intense (if you have never used a Poison perfume, they last on you for 12hrs+ easily). So for those who always wanted to own the Poisoned apple flacon but thought that the perfume was to heady for them, then this is a great choice. Poison Girl has a fruitier side to it, but the soft yet thick Vanilla keeps it in the category of the winter smells.
“2015 Best New Female Fragrance by the Fragrance Foundation and Allure Best of Beauty award winner.
With a glam rock aesthetic, this addictive gourmand floral entices with notes of black coffee for a shot of adrenaline, white florals to instantly seduce, and vanilla for sweetness and sensuality. Playing on the incongruity between the bitterness of the coffee bean accord, an ingredient never used before in such a high quantity in a feminine fragrance and radiant white flowers, BLACK OPIUM gives a sensation of light-headedness, bordering on ecstasy.
First there is the wake-up call. The coffee bean note hits you hard, jolting the senses. Next, it becomes softer and more feminine with the white flowers of jasmine sambac and absolu of fleur d’oranger to finish incredibly addictive and emboldened by the ambrosial appeal of vanilla and the woody notes of cedar and patchouli, giving a roundness, depth, and mysterious elegance.
Audacious? Perhaps. Addictive, electrifying? Definitely.“
OK, this one is special. Not only because my hubby got it for me without me ever mentioning this perfume to him. So whether it was a pure fluke or he actually has a good nose, this perfume is what we millennials like to call “Bomb-Diggity”. Ah man! the notes of coffee and vanilla are as intoxicating as a Starbucks Winter Drink. 💋💋
