Skincare routines can be exhausting and expensive. I remember the phase I had about a year ago where I would blindly purchace expensive serums and creams on a fleeting recommendation of a YouTuber. I didn’t even stop to think twice about whether that skincare was worth it, would it suit me, was the said YouTuber simply pushing it for the money she was getting. Off course there were a few hits, but a plentiful misses. For example – I loved Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum and Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate but hated Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and Sunday Riley’s Good Genes, both highly recommended and very hyped up but both basically did nothing for me. In fact Good Genes, with its 40% Lactic Acid, ended up irritating, peeling and horribly dehydrating my skin.
Last month I decided to calm the shit down, infant calm down on the extensive and expensive skincare routine I had. I decreased the umber of products I used on my skin from 6 (excluding cleansers here) to 3. I stuck to a nourishing moisturiser which had anti-oxidants and other hydrating ingredients an intensely hydrating facial oil and night time face mask. my
Natio Ageless Extra Firming Moisture Treatment // A light, effective day and night moisturising lotion that thoroughly rehydrates dry skin, this Natio Ageless Extra Firming Moisture Treatment is perfect for use on cleansed skin for a fuss-free moisture boost. It has a beautiful mix of organic rosehip oil, sesame and mallow. I love how light yet moisturising it is. In my opinion, it will suit most skin types. Another great thing about this moisturiser is that you can use it day and night as it has no SPF. I know a lot will prefer a moisturiser with SPF, but I have never seen a moisturiser which has SPF and is hydrating enough as well. I know Olay is a good option but then SPF 20 isn’t good enough. I always anyways end up using a proper SPF with a solid sun protection of atleast 30!
Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Oil // This serum/oil is very heavy and thick in texture. It is basically a miracle for those with dry and dehydrated. I have been using it every night at the last step in my routine. It locks in the moisture provided by the moisturiser and provides a ton by itself as well. Yes it is thick takes time to absorb, but the results next day are worth the sight wait.
The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask // I love this mask! Makes my face super hydrated and supple. All other reasons to love this mask are here
Himalaya Herbals Rich Cocoa Butter Lip Balm // I know the packaging isn’t fancy enough to catch attention. But this lip balm is all you will ever need to get rid of horribly dry and chapped lips. I am quite addicted to it and it never leaves my sight. It is really thick and hard in the stick. Smells just like any Cocoa Butter product does. It has no petroleum jelly, mineral oil, silicon or any other form of cheap and slippery ingredients that give an illusion of moisturised lips. A must have!
Nivea Extra Whitening Cell Repair Body Lotion with SPF 15 // A body lotion with SPF is always a good idea. Where I would prefer something more than a mere 15, it always better than nothing. I have been loving this body lotion not just for the SPF but also the fact that is of just that perfect consistency and hydrating properties where it gets absorbed quickly leaving no oily trace on the body but provides apt hydration. I sometime do apply an extra layer of body butter over the dryer areas, but this usually does the job.
Fruit of the Earth 100% Aloe Vera Gel // An excellent allrounder. This gel is perfect for use in case of sunburn, acne, scaly skin, dryness. itchiness, redness etc. I will be soon doing a proper review on it, so keep an eye out for it!
