Orange Is The New Red | Makeup Trend | Lips

I remember shopping makeup for my wedding trousseau back in August of 2009 when I heard of the Orange Lips trend for the Spring/Summer 2010. It is 2015 now and the Orange Lips have been on trend every year since. So is the Orange lip the new Red? Well, for summers at least , I reckon.
Now wearing an orange lip may be overwhelming for some. It is a bold look and an unusual colour to sport. So for those who are a bit worried about it coming off as too “out there”, start with more sheer options. For this I love my Korres Lip Butter in Mango, which is a sheer yet “true orange” tint for your lips. What is great is that it is also an amazingly moisturising lip balm! Another sheer option is Becca’s Glossy Lip Tint in Frappe, it is a beautiful sheer gloss which looks frosty but is without shimmer.
As for a more pigmented option, you can check out the latest release, Revlon’s Ultra HD Lipstick in Marigold, a highly pigmented and creamy reddish-orange. Another option would be Colorbar’s Matte Touch Lipstick in Orange Punch (don’t let the name misguide you, it is rather creamy), which leans toward being more neutral and slightly pale orange.
My favourite Orange lipstick have to be ones with more Neon edge to them. Maybelline’s Rebel Bouquet in REB5 and The Body Shop’s Color Crush Lipstick in 105 Coral Cutie are my choices in this case.
A matte look, especially if you worry about this colour bleeding out, is also a great way to slide in to using more intense Oranges. One of my all time favourite lipstick MAC Lady Danger, a stunning reddish-orange, is a great choice. Another matte orange that isn’t as expensive as the MAC is Revlon’s Super Lustrous Matte in Fiery Sunset.

The best way to wear a full on orange lip, in my opinion, is by keeping the rest of the face simple. Just mascara, a very mildly pigmented blush and minimal makeup. Off course, conceal you redness, for orange lips will accentuate it on your face.

Orange lip trend is here to stay. The rusty/shimmery/copper/90’s style lipstick have been permanently replaced by this glorious colour. This trend is here to stay. So which is you favourite Orange Lipstick?
